“All American” Doctor Joins Wake Team

Dr. Robert Adams

Knightdale’s most well known family practice doctor – Robert Adams, MD is also Robert Adams, MD, Colonel, U.S. Army (retired).

He spent 12 years at Fort Bragg, NC in an airborne status with the 82nd Airborne “All American” Division and other Special Forces units. He was deployed to Iraq in 2004 with the 82nd Airborne Division where he earned a Bronze Star for his service there - seen here with his wife Jeri.

He further organized and conducted the first medical education seminar for Iraqi doctors in over 25 years. Trained in family practice and obstetrics, he even delivered the only American baby of the war for a USAID worker that was working in Baghdad at the time.

His daughter Cori is married to SGT Josh Victorin also with the 82nd Airborne Division who deployed to Afghanistan in September, 2009 for his fourth combat tour. Josh represents the 5th generation of career military in Adams clan. “I could not be more proud,” noted Dr Adams.

Of interest is that “Dr Bob”, as some of his patients know him, is also an ex-Navy SEAL. He is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and served 12 years with the Navy as a SEAL before accepting an Army scholarship to attend Wake Forest University medical school. He turned in his Navy Commander’s hat for a 2nd Lt Commission to attend medical school in 1987. He retired as an Army Medical Corps Colonel in 2006 and came to Knightdale to begin his new practice.

He came to Knightdale to build a family practice where “I can grow old with my patients” he states. His practice grew so fast that he decided to build his own medical building and in March of this year he opened the beautiful Knightdale Medical building at 6905 Knightdale Blvd. This 14,000 square foot multi-specialty facility houses his Knightdale Family Medicine practice along with Wake Heart and Vascular, Vein Care Pavilion of Raleigh and Wake Urology and ENT offices.

In September of this year he affiliated his practice with Wake Specialty Physicians. “This allows me to grow in the community while still providing affordable quality care to the community I serve” he notes. He loves his job. He has been serving Knightdale since 2006 and intends to stay where he is “for a very long time”. His son Trey is a UNC graduate and lives in Raleigh. Daughter Cori cares for her 2 children at Fort Bragg while waiting for Josh to return from Afghanistan. His wife Jeri is also his best friend.

In his spare time he likes to fish.
